DoJ Charges 19 Worldwide in $68 Million xDedic Dark Web Marketplace Fraud

The U.S. Department of Justice announced charges against 19 individuals tied to the xDedic Marketplace, a now-defunct dark web portal that sold access to more than 700,000 compromised computers and PII and is estimated to have facilitated over $68 million in fraud; multiple defendants have been convicted or sentenced and the operation employed tools such as NLBrute to harvest credentials used for tax fraud, ransomware, and other illegal activity.
