Berlin Refuses to Pay Hackers Who Stole Data From the City's State Network

Berlin's state network was compromised in August with subsequent extortion claims and a leak-site posting (Rhysida) alleging ~5.79 TB of data and personal records; forensic work identified exfiltration from a Senate department and authorities (state police, public prosecutor, federal agencies) are investigating. Separately, Manchester Airports Group confirmed unauthorized access to a customer bookings system exposing contact and vehicle data for millions of customers; both incidents highlight use of credential compromise, phishing and known exploits (e.g., Zerologon) and are under active response.
