AIVD and MIVD report that at least one Russian intelligence service is systematically hijacking internet-facing security cameras across Europe and Ukraine to monitor military transport routes and, in Ukraine, to aid attacks. Operators exploit exposed services, default credentials and known vulnerabilities, then run image-recognition to find military vehicles; Censys estimates tens of thousands of potentially vulnerable cameras (including ~4,000 in Ukraine) while Dutch services confirmed a smaller number of actual breaches and advise removing cameras from the public internet, patching firmware, and enforcing strong credentials and network controls.
