Apple Expands iOS 18.7.7 Update to More Devices to Block DarkSword Exploit

Apple expanded availability of iOS/iPadOS 18.7.7 to additional older devices after researchers (GTIG, iVerify, Lookout) disclosed the DarkSword exploit kit—used since July 2025 in watering‑hole attacks against users in multiple countries—to silently deploy backdoors and a dataminer; the kit has been reused by the Russia‑linked COLDRIVER group to deliver the GHOSTBLADE data stealer and was subsequently leaked on GitHub, prompting Apple to backport patches and push update notifications to affected devices.
