Google Adds 24-Hour Wait for Unverified App Sideloading to Reduce Malware and Scams

Google announced an "advanced flow" for Android sideloading that enforces a mandatory 24-hour wait and developer verification to reduce abuse, while also allowing limited distribution accounts for hobbyists; concurrently, researchers have observed a new Android malware called Perseus actively targeting users in Turkey and Italy and reported at least 17 Android malware families in the wild that aim for device takeover and financial fraud.
