Meta Warns of 8 Spyware Firms Targeting iOS, Android, and Windows Devices

Meta Platforms disrupted operations from eight surveillance-for-hire firms and removed over 2,000 inauthentic accounts tied to coordinated operations, reporting spyware that targets iOS, Android, and Windows to exfiltrate location, media, messages, and enable remote mic/camera access. The report highlights associated social engineering and phishing activity across many platforms, independent research on Patternz (RTB-based tracking), and a suspected MMS Fingerprint technique linked to NSO that could enable device-specific exploitation.
