TeamViewer Detects Security Breach in Corporate IT Environment

TeamViewer disclosed an intrusion on June 26, 2024 attributed to the APT29 actor that used a compromised employee account to exfiltrate internal employee directory data (names, corporate contact information, and encrypted passwords). The company says the attack was contained to its corporate IT environment, did not impact its product/connectivity platform or customer data, and that remediation, stronger authentication, and rebuild efforts are underway while investigations continue with external incident response partners.
