Ukrainian National Sentenced to 5 Years in North Korea IT Worker Fraud Case

A Ukrainian national, Oleksandr Didenko, was sentenced for operating a service (Upworksell.com) that sold or rented stolen U.S. identities and managed laptop farms and hundreds of proxy identities to help North Korean IT workers secure remote jobs at ~40 U.S. companies and funnel wages back to North Korea; authorities seized the site, recovered funds and cryptocurrency, and other co-conspirators were also prosecuted while the operation adapts tactics such as impersonating victims on LinkedIn.
