Alert: New Stealthy "RustDoor" Backdoor Targeting Apple macOS Devices

Bitdefender researchers uncovered "RustDoor," a Rust-written macOS backdoor active since November 2023 that impersonates software updates, targets both Intel and ARM Macs, and is delivered via FAT binaries and staged downloaders. The implant supports extensive commands for harvesting and exfiltrating files, exists in multiple actively developed variants, and shows C2 infrastructure overlaps with ransomware families such as Black Basta and BlackCat, suggesting a sophisticated, targeted campaign.
