Google Sues Chinese Smishing Network Accused of Using Gemini AI in Phishing

Google alleges that a China-linked cybercrime network operating a phishing-as-a-service platform called Outsider used AI (Gemini) to generate fraudulent websites and deploy large-scale SMS phishing campaigns, resulting in over 100,000 victims, millions in losses, 9,000 fake sites and 1.59M fraudulent URLs; the service (sold via Telegram) provides templates, keystroke logging and campaign tooling, and Google is suing to dismantle the infrastructure while working with carriers to block the messages.
