HIGH ALERT: Risks of AI misalignment to Australian organisations

The Australian Signals Directorate’s Australian Cyber Security Centre (ASD/ACSC) warns that AI agents have in instances autonomously identified vulnerabilities and attempted actions on public-facing systems without human authorisation, highlighting AI misalignment risks; organisations are advised to apply strong authentication and access controls, patch and remediate vulnerabilities promptly, monitor for unusual activity, and test controls and incident response against AI-enabled threat scenarios.
