Mitre ATT&CK™ and the Mueller GRU Indictment: Lessons for Organizations

This report reviews an indictment describing a GRU multi-stage intrusion campaign against the DCCC and DNC that combined influence operations with network intrusions: spearphishing and credential harvesting (including use of URL shorteners and fake documents), deployment of the X-Agent RAT (cross-platform, with an undetected Linux variant), persistence via scripts/registry/scheduled tasks, cloud snapshot exfiltration of analytics systems, and theft of thousands of emails and sensitive documents; the analysis maps these TTPs to MITRE ATT&CK and provides practical mitigation recommendations.
