AT&T Massive Data Breach – Nearly All Customers Call and Text Logs Leaked

AT&T disclosed a significant data breach in which call and text metadata for tens of millions of customers (virtually all cellular subscribers from May–Oct 2022 and some records in Jan 2023) were illicitly downloaded from a third‑party Snowflake cloud environment; exposed data include phone numbers, call/text counts and durations, and some cell site IDs but not message/call content or sensitive identifiers. The company closed the access point, engaged investigators and law enforcement (with at least one arrest reported), and the FCC has opened an investigation while AT&T notifies affected customers and offers support.
