Testing by CyberDigest and others found that when certain LG monitors are connected to Windows PCs, the Device Metadata Retrieval Client automatically downloads and silently installs an LG Monitor App (including a McAfee trial/Scam Detector) with broad system permissions and no user consent; the behavior was observed across multiple recent and older UltraGear/UltraFine models and can be mitigated via Group Policy, registry changes, or uninstalling the apps.
