A former software developer, Davis Lu, was convicted and sentenced to 48 months for intentionally sabotaging his employer’s network after his privileges were removed. He deployed destructive code (infinite loops, scripts deleting user profiles, and a kill switch named "IsDLEnabledinAD") and two malware programs called "Hakai" and "HunShui," deleted encrypted data from his laptop, and caused outages affecting thousands of users and hundreds of thousands of dollars in losses.
