NgCERT Warns of $2 Million ATM Cash-Out Cyberattack on UBA Senegal

NgCERT issued an advisory reporting a coordinated ATM cash-out campaign against UBA Senegal that led to more than $2 million in losses and 3,421 fraudulent withdrawals after attackers compromised the bank's card authorization systems. The advisory links the intrusion to phishing, supply-chain weaknesses, or insider assistance, notes the attackers manipulated transaction controls, and urges financial institutions across Africa to adopt stronger security controls, multi-factor authentication, and enhanced real-time transaction monitoring to prevent similar incidents.
