G7 Leaders Address North Korean Cybercrime and Cryptocurrency Theft

During the June 15–17, 2026 G7 Summit in Évian-les-Bains, leaders reported that North Korean hacking groups stole approximately $6.75 billion in cryptocurrency (including ~$2.02 billion in 2025), described these thefts as a direct threat to the global financial system and a funding source for North Korea's nuclear programs, and urged virtual asset service providers to block transactions from known North Korean wallets while calling for enhanced international cooperation and attention to insider threats in legitimate crypto services.
