Trilateral Cybersecurity Meeting Targets DPRK's Illicit Funding Networks

U.S., Japan, and South Korea met in Washington, D.C. on June 25–26, 2026 to coordinate responses to DPRK-linked cyber threats, with emphasis on cryptocurrency thefts and laundering that fund North Korea's weapons programs; the delegations highlighted recent large losses (about $290M from KelpDAO and $285M from Drift Protocol), the use of DPRK IT workers and AI in schemes, and agreed to implement cooperative measures to mitigate these threats.
