Calls to Ban Chinese AI App DeepSeek Due to Data Harvesting Concerns

State attorneys general and the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee are urging scrutiny and bans of the Chinese-owned DeepSeek AI app over national-security concerns that it could harvest chat histories, IP addresses, and other data for use by the Chinese Communist Party; 21 state AGs requested Congress ban the app on government devices, several U.S. states and other countries have already blocked it, and lawmakers are seeking information on model training data and CCP connections.
