Iran Exploits Telecom Vulnerabilities to Track US Military Personnel

Iranian government actors reportedly exploited SS7 vulnerabilities in global mobile signaling and leveraged commercial advertising technology to track U.S. military personnel in bases and hotels across Iraq, Bahrain, and other Middle Eastern countries beginning in late February 2026. The surveillance enabled targeted strikes that caused injuries and has led U.S. lawmakers to call for stronger safeguards against foreign surveillance of military personnel.
