Sensitive Illinois Voter Data Exposed by Contractor’s Unsecured Databases

Databases containing 4.6 million Illinois voter records — including driver's license numbers, full and partial Social Security numbers, voter applications and scanned documents — were found publicly accessible without authentication. The exposed data appears linked to election services provider Platinum Technology Resource and managed-services partner Magenium; a researcher reported the finding, the companies were notified and the files were later taken offline, and the report states there is no confirmed evidence of data exfiltration though the exposure creates significant identity and election-related risk.
