Hackers Can Jailbreak Digital License Plates to Make Others Pay Their Tolls and Tickets

Security research from IOActive found a flaw in Reviver digital license plates: using fault-injection (voltage glitching) to disable protections and extract/replace firmware enables a jailbreak that can allow evasion of tolls or law enforcement tracking; Reviver disputes the ease of exploitation, saying physical removal and expertise are required, and is redesigning plates to avoid the vulnerable chips.
