Europe’s Online Age Verification App Is Here

The European Commission has released an open-source age verification app intended to provide a harmonized, privacy-preserving method for proving users' ages across the EU (using eID or ID documents with biometric verification), enabling platforms to verify access to age-restricted content via QR codes or direct proof delivery; the initiative is tied to enforcement expectations under the Digital Services Act and allows member states to integrate the solution into national digital wallets or adopt independent apps.
