Google Is Adding Passkey Support for Its Most Vulnerable Users

Google is rolling out passkeys to its Advanced Protection Program, making the high-security offering more accessible by complementing (not replacing) hardware security keys with FIDO2-based, phishing-resistant authentication stored on users’ devices and protected by biometrics or PINs. The change aims to maintain strong security for high-risk users while reducing friction and cost, with traditional two-factor options still supported.
