The Race Is on to Keep AI Agents From Running Wild With Your Credit Cards

The FIDO Alliance, with initial contributions from Google and Mastercard, is forming working groups to develop industry standards and cryptographic mechanisms (including Google's Agent Payments Protocol and Mastercard's Verifiable Intent) to authenticate and protect transactions performed by agentic AI, aiming to prevent agent hijacking, phishing, and provide transparency and accountability.
