A Leak of Biometric Police Data Is a Sign of Things to Come

Researcher Jeremiah Fowler discovered an exposed ThoughtGreen Technologies web server containing ~500 GB (1.6 million documents) of personal and biometric data — including fingerprints, facial images, signatures, job applications, and police verification documents — for thousands of Indian law enforcement personnel and civilians; the misconfiguration was closed after discovery, but the presence of sensitive biometric records and subsequent criminal advertisements of similar police data on Telegram raise significant risks of identity misuse and targeting.
