WIRED reported that Dialog, a private events group, exposed personal information and authentication tokens for 222 event registrants — including a National Security Council official and an active-duty intelligence officer embedded with a Tier 1 special operations unit — due to a misconfigured website. The exposed dossiers contained names, dates of birth, home addresses, phone numbers, photos, political views, and private auth tokens; Dialog characterized the incident as a “cyberattack,” but evidence suggests the root cause was a site misconfiguration.
