Your PQC Pilot Might Fail, and That’s Okay 

The report urges organizations to begin post-quantum cryptography (PQC) pilots now, framing success as the identification of interoperability obstacles, skill and knowledge gaps, cryptographic inventory deficiencies, vendor readiness shortfalls, and process automation needs. It emphasizes that pilots should intentionally surface risks to manage the transition rather than prove immediate readiness, and that waiting for ecosystem maturity cedes control to regulators, customers, and attackers. Early experimentation provides clarity on vulnerabilities, dependencies, and timelines, enabling proactive planning and reduced implementation risk.
