Human-in-the-Loop Is Not Enough: Why Governance-in-the-Loop Is Becoming the New Standard for AI Agent Risk Management

This article argues that Human-in-the-Loop oversight is insufficient for modern, agentic AI systems and advocates Governance-in-the-Loop (GITL) — a framework combining automated controls, continuous monitoring, decision traceability, risk-based controls, and exception-based human intervention — to scale AI governance across enterprise use cases such as finance, healthcare, and cybersecurity.
