French Police Raid X Paris Office, Summon Musk Over Grok Deepfakes

Authorities in France, the UK, and the EU have launched investigations into xAI’s Grok feature on X amid widespread reports that it facilitates the creation and distribution of nonconsensual sexualized deepfakes, including of minors, while the U.S. Senate advanced legislation enabling victims to sue creators. Lawsuits—including a class action—allege xAI promoted the capability and failed to implement adequate guardrails, and advocacy groups are pressing Apple and Google to drop the app, citing violations of store policies and criminal concerns.
