Interpol, African Nations Arrest 1,006 in Sweeping ‘Operation Serengeti’

Interpol and law enforcement from 19 African countries executed "Operation Serengeti" (Sept 2–Oct 31), arresting 1,006 suspects and dismantling 134,089 infrastructures linked to a wide range of cybercrimes—ransomware, banking trojans, phishing, DDoS, payment-card fraud, Ponzi schemes and online scams—impacting over 35,000 victims with nearly $193 million in attributed losses (about $44 million recovered); seven cybersecurity vendors provided intelligence and IoCs, and investigators documented malware families including LockBit, Rhysida, Medusa and the Grandoreiro banking trojan.
