Palo Alto Networks Defines SHIELD Framework to Secure Vibecoding

Palo Alto Networks’ Unit 42 introduces SHIELD, a framework to secure AI-enabled “vibecoding” by recommending Separation of Duties, mandatory human code reviews, input/output validation with SAST, independent security helper models, least-privilege agency, and defensive supply-chain/execution controls. The report warns of growing risks such as prompt injection, over-aggregated privileges, fabricated packages, and destructive AI agent actions, urging organizations to adopt DevSecOps best practices and prepare for breach response as usage of these tools expands.
