News alert: Orchid Security study finds invisible identities now outnumber managed accounts

Orchid Security's "Identity Gap:2026 Snapshot" reports that a majority of enterprise identity now exists outside traditional IAM controls—what it calls "identity dark matter"—with findings such as 57% of identity being invisible to IAM, 67% of non-human accounts created inside applications, excessive privileged accounts in 70% of apps, and widespread hardcoded/clear-text credentials; the report warns these gaps are amplified by autonomous AI agents that can quickly discover and exploit unmanaged access paths.
